Diesel Alpina vs petrol M3. Wouldn't be a bad problem to be stuck with.

According to Autocar the M is marginally faster in a straight line, but the Alpina is actually faster around their handling circuit. That combined with the fact that the D3 is easier to live with it & you can get it in that gorgeous blue with those rims, means for me it would be the Aplina D3 hands down.

… oh and its also $10k cheaper.

Diesel is for commuters.

An M3 is for fun.

With 425bhp and 405lb ft for the M3 and 350bhp and 516lb ft for the D3 I think it depends on what your opinion of fun is. If drifting, burn outs and tight handling is fun then the D3. If top speed and 1/4 mile pulls is fun then the M3.

You just have to know how to use your D if you want to have fun with it.

D3 for me too. Torque monster.

I've always been on the side of "just enough torque, but tons of Horsepower". I could never give up a high redline for more torque.

This one, with a manual. If you have to have a turbo'd BMW it may as well be a diesel. And a wagon. And blue. And an Al-peeena.

IDK, neither the D3, B3, or M3 are all out sports cars. So I'd take the most well rounded one.

But I'd also take a GTD over a GTI, so theres that.

Alpina D3. Because gas mileage. And semi-pulling torque.

The voices in my head think of all sorts of on/off-topic crap. I usually filter them out... but not this time!
